Company Google has declared the start of new version Sky for the service Google Earth. The improved version as it is informed in the press release offers a wide spectrum of new opportunities: from updating the information on events in space up to historical cards of the star sky and virtual rounds on the farthest points of the Galaxy.

The new version of service includes following layers:

” Current events in viewing the star sky ” - a layer with constantly updated information on events occuring in a space such as flights of asteroids and comets (we shall remind, just now in the sky it is possible to observe Holmes’s comet);

” The selected observatories ” - a layer with the images which have been removed by satellites in different layers of an atmosphere, including x-ray, infra-red, ultra-violet and microwave pictures of the sky;

” Historical cards of the star sky ” - the layer includes ” cards of the sky of David Ramsy ” in which basis the figures of Italian engraver Giovanni Maria Kassini made by it in 1792 are put. These pictures help to understand, on representations of mankind about the sky eventually how many have changed. Here the user can find an art layer ” Constellations Gavely ” which is collected from 50 engravings of 1690 made by Yann Gevely.

The new version of service also includes podcasts about stars, galaxies, planets and forthcoming events in the sky, a layer ” the Review of the sky ” owing to which users can make virtual travel on 100 most interesting points in the sky; a layer ” the Star sky: community ” in which users worldwide spread the information on heavenly bodies and the phenomena.

Also API for Google Sky were started which will allow independent developers to build their own hybrid appendices, using constantly extending gallery Google Sky.
