Company Google as informs ZDNet patents system of automatic recognition of inscriptions in digital photos. The corresponding application has been submitted to Management of the USA under patents and trade marks in June of the last year and published in the beginning of current month.

In the application behind number 20080002893 the so-called system ” recognition of the text on images ” (Recognizing text in images) is described. As inventors appear Hatch Vinsent and Адриан Альгес. The essence of a technique is reduced to the computer analysis of a digital photo or the image and the subsequent extraction of inscriptions in a text kind.

It is not excluded that the patented system will be applied with the purpose of automatic search of inscriptions on digital images in database Google and their additions as keywords to corresponding pictures. It will theoretically allow to raise relevance of the results which are given out by inquiries of users. Besides the new system can help at definition of district in which this or that picture has been made.

In company Google, however, while refuse to give any comments how the patented technology will be used. Representatives of the search giant mark only, that Google patents many development, some of which can find practical application, and others - are not present.
